US President Donald Trump has followed through on his promise to pardon Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the online drug market Silk Road, who was imprisoned for over a decade.
Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the defunct darknet marketplace Silk Road, has been pardoned by US President Donald Trump after 12 years in prison.
Ulbricht was arrested at the age of 29 in 2013 and was sentenced to life in prison in 2015 without the possibility of parole for his role in the operation and creation of the Silk Road.
Freeing Ulbricht was one of many promises to the crypto community by Trump, who pledged to pardon the Silk Road founder if reelected.
